The Menendez Brothers
Clips of the Crime
THE BRIEF
Spillt brought us into a fast-moving documentary centered on the Menendez brothers. With looks, typography, textures, and a complete After Effects toolkit provided by their team, our role was to become an extension of their motion department and scale production faithfully and quickly, without additional oversight or worry.
This was a volume play with no room for ego. Adopt the system, honor the intent, and ship a few hundred pieces that read as one voice.

Our Approach
We built a production line that respected the locked toolkit and cleared the path for speed. Working inside Spillt’s approved templates, we created reusable precomps and expression-driven controls. We added subtle template optimizations to handle volume-based production, including long names, shifting timestamps, updated data, and evolving editorial needs. Delivery lived cleanly inside their workflow, with requests flowing through structured Google Sheets and reviews clearing in one to two rounds on average.
What we produced (selected):
Animated case documents
Static and animated timeline graphics
Newspaper headline sequences
Archival photo treatments
Lower thirds and supporting typography
OUTCOMES
Scale without drift: about 400 to 600 animated assets delivered to spec and consistent with Spillt’s approved aesthetic.
Fewer rounds, faster clears: most items approved within one to two review cycles.
Production-ready flexibility: expression controls and precomps turned late edits, including names, dates, and durations, into quick turns.
A trusted extension: seamless partnership with Spillt’s team and process, no surprises, just steady output.
