Microsoft Summit Motion Toolkit

Handcrafted Signals for a Digital Stage

THE BRIEF

Monigle reached out looking for motion design support for a virtual summit hosted by Microsoft. The ask was not just a set of finished videos. They needed a visual system that could live beyond the event, scale across segments, and be used in-house without friction.

We were given a general direction, style frames, and mood boards. From there, we translated the look into an animated toolkit delivered as exportable Premiere templates. The goal was to create motion graphics that felt painterly and handcrafted, while staying modern, clean, and right for an optimistic, forward-facing forum.

Our Approach

We treated the work with system design in mind first, and animation second. Early on, we collaborated closely with Monigle sharing initial layouts and still frames for each deliverable to ensure the look was aligned before we invested in motion. Once approved, we built the animation language around subtle stop-motion qualities and tactile movement, keeping everything consistent across the package.

We started with the opening sequence, since it set the tone for the summit. It needed to feel welcoming and inviting to entice viewers with what is ahead. From there we expanded into modular pieces designed for speed and repeatability inside Microsoft’s internal workflows.

Toolkit deliverables

  • Lower thirds

  • Background options

  • Intro and opener sequence

  • Transitions

  • Premiere templates for in-house use and iteration

OUTCOMES

  • A cohesive motion toolkit that Monigle and Microsoft’s team could import, reuse, and scale without starting from scratch.

  • Painterly, stop-motion inspired movement that added warmth and craft while staying clean and contemporary.

  • A consistent visual system across lower thirds, backgrounds, openers, and transitions, designed to hold together under live production constraints.

  • A smoother handoff from agency to in-house team, with templates built for real-world iteration.
